Remembrance

The 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month.

They shall grow not old,
As we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them,
Nor the years condemn,
At the going down of the sun
And in the morning
We will remember them.
— Laurence Binyon (1869-1943)

I always get teary eyed at Remembrance. More so than normal this year. I’ve really been thinking about all of those people who died – be it in battle or through bomb raids. So many, many lives lost. I’m especially thinking about all of those men, most of them really just boys, who never got to become husbands, fathers, who never got to grow old and experience all that they could have. War is so devastating and cruel. This year marks 90 years since the end of WW1. May we remember those who gave their lives for our freedom and those who continue to do so.
