I’m feeling a little blogged out at the moment. I’m not really having much inspiration! I’m also thinking about whether blogging can really play a significant part in church community or whether it is more of a sounding off board and place for theological debate for the theologically minded - does that make sense? I guess maybe I’m wondering what blogging does for Jesus? Don’t get me wrong, I definitely see the benefits in blogging. I have made some fantastic friendships through it and have learnt heaps. I have a cold at the moment which is causing sinus trouble, so I’m not able to think clearly anyway!
The second part of the Tom Sine book review is coming! I’ve just been a little snowed under recently.
Anyone else having a blogging hiatus?

The kids, along with a little help from Daddy, got me The End of Religion: Encountering the Subversive Spirituality of Jesus by Bruxy Cavey (as well as a Nooma DVD and some really yummy chocolates!) for Mothers Day. I’m really looking forward to reading this book. Has anyone read it? What did you think?
From the back cover: Was Jesus of Nazareth an irreligious agitator? Was his message more radical than we’ve been led to believe? Has the Christian religion missed the point?
Bruxy Cavey thinks so.
In The End of Religion, Cavey contends that the Jesus described in the Bible never intended to found a new religion; instead he hoped to break down the very idea of religion as a way to God. With a fresh perspective on biblical stories, Cavey paints a picture of the world God originally intended and still desires: a world without religion.
