Watchtower - Jesse Tree Devotion Day Nineteen

“ I will stand at my watch and station myself on the ramparts; I will look to see what he will say to me, and what answer I am to give to this complaint.” Habakkuk 2:1

Today’s symbol is of a watchtower. It represents Habakkuk standing on an allegorical watchtower, waiting for the anointed one the Lord would send. Waiting is hard to do. It means we are looking ahead to the future. Some things we wait for are good, and some are not so good. Before Jesus was born people were waiting for a Saviour. They had faith that God would keep his promise, but they had been waiting a long time. By the time Jesus was born, some had forgotten of God’s promise of a Saviour, they had lost faith. Many didn’t recognize him. Those who did, realized that their wait was finally over. Thousands of years on we talk about Jesus’ return, and sometimes wonder if it will happen in our lifetime.

God will not disappoint us though, in our waiting. The end results may not always be what we have anticipated, but it will be God given. We have the promise in Jesus. As we live our life by faith, we will walk, work and persevere until the end, and then we will be with our Lord and Saviour in heaven.

Today think about what you are waiting for, and bring it to God, knowing that you will be rewarded for your patience and faith.
