Ten Commandments - JT Devotion Day Ten

“Then the LORD said to Moses, “Tell the Israelites this: ‘You have seen for yourselves that I have spoken to you from heaven: Do not make any gods to be alongside me; do not make for yourselves gods of silver or gods of gold.” Exodus 20: 22-23 (NIV)

Our Jesse Tree symbol today is of the tablets which have the ten commandments written on them. God delivered the commandments to Moses on Mount Sinai. The commandments are seen as the best rules for living. God wants us to be good to each other and treat others the way we would like to be treated. God wants us to do good and to follow the right path.  Of course not everyone one is life wants to follow the rules. Christ sums up the law as loving God and loving your neighbour.  If we could all do this then the world would be a different place.

Rules can be good things, they are not there to “ruin the party”.  Today think about what good rules you implement within your family life. You can read the full passage about the Ten Commandments in Exodus 19:1-20:26.
