Lamb - JT Devotion Day Nine
“This is how you are to eat it: with your cloak tucked into your belt, your sandals on your feet and your staff in your hand. Eat it in haste; it is the LORD’s Passover.” Exodus 12: 11 (NIV)
Today’s Jesse Tree symbol is a lamb. God instructs Moses and Aaron to slaughter a year-old male lamb for each member of Israel. Every household is then to smear the lambs blood around the doorpost of their homes, so that God will know to pass over their houses when coming to destroy the firstborn of the Egyptians. This began the tradition of Passover, and marked the beginning of the exodus of the Israelites out of Egypt and slavery.
Christ is our passover, he is the Lamb of God, John 1:29. He is the perfect lamb. His blood has freed us from our sins, is our protection from the wrath of God, and has freed us from the law. Through Jesus we receive our spiritual strength and nourishment. We must continue to feed off him, always giving thanks and rejoicing in him and what he has done for us. Today delight in the Lord your God, worship and praise him for all the great things he has done.
