Hot Ember - Jesse Tree Devotion Day Seventeen

“The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned.” Isaiah 9:2 (NIV)

Many years before Jesus was born prophets brought God’s message to the people. They reminded people of what God wanted them to do, and told them to worship the one and only true God. Today’s symbol is of a hot ember to represent the hot ember that one of the angels around the throne of God takes from the fire, with tongs, and touches it against Isaiah’s lips, to atone him for his sin (Isaiah 6). This allowed him to go and deliver the word of God.  The book of Isaiah is full of great prophecies about the coming Messiah. It is a book full of hope, that no matter how bad things may be on earth, God had not forgotten his children.  He was going to send a child who would grow to be the saviour for the world. Thousands of years on we worship Father and Son - Jesus, the Messiah.

Today read through some of the Messiah’s prophecies in Isaiah and worship your God.  Read some of Isaiah’s prophesies about the Messiah in Isaiah 1:10-20; 7:14-15; 9:1-7; 11:1-9; 40; 42:1-9; 49:1-7; 53:1-8.
