Crown - JT Devotion Day Thirteen

“The LORD was with Samuel as he grew up, and he let none of his words fall to the ground.” 1 Samuel 3:19 (NIV)
Today’s Jesse Tree symbol is of a crown. Samuel was repeatedly called by God. It was Eli who recognised that it must have been God calling Samuel. At last Samuel recognized the Lord’s call, he adhered to it without fail, and proclaimed the coming of Christ the King. Young people are capable of hearing from God, we must encourage our children to try and recognise God’s gentle whisper to them, and to listen to his promptings. Children can be open vessels for God, they generally are very trusting, unquestioning and full of little doubt. If your child tells you that they have heard something from God, or had a dream etc, then listen to them, and consider whether God is talking to you through them.
Today, pray that God will reveal himself to your children, or children you know, and that they will learn to recognise his voice and be obedient to it. you can read about Samuel in 1 Samuel 3:1-21, 7:1-8:22 and 9:15-10:9.
