They were quilted and the "ornaments" were made of felt and well made. They were really wonderful. Every year I used to take it out and tell the story with my kids day by day. They think they're too old for it now and we lost most of our ornaments a couple years ago. But we really loved doing it when they were younger. Another thing we did, along vaguely similar lines, was 'Hanging of the Greens'. That was good as well.
