Prayer Request

As we’ve been on the subject of prayer I thought I ask for some prayer for my beautiful little boy today (OK he’s not so little now!). Part of his autism means that things like the dentist are too much for him, so today he has gone off to get some dental work done at a specialist. Jonathan has taken him as my knee is still not right, so I couldn’t drive the distance. Ben has been sedated, but they had to use a needle to do this. When Jonathan asked them to use EMLA cream they said that our doctor should have prescribed it - well, it was nice for someone to tell us that before hand, eh? All I’ve heard is Ben screaming whilst Jon has been on the phone to me. My heart is breaking. The worst thing is that they won’t even let Jon stay with Ben, even though the documentation said that “you will be with your child at all times” - really sucks. Please pray that Ben does not remember any of this, and that he isn’t even more put off by the dentist than usual by this - apparently really calm, reassuring dental clinic (mmm, I’m not so sure now). Also pray he makes a full recovery. Daddy has promised him a clone trooper, although he is now hoping that Ben does not remember this! ;-)

Update - He’s on the way home, oh, he is not happy :-(

Lyn … I’m just waking up and reading this. I’m so sorry your boy had to go through this trauma. What horrid people those dental clinic workers seem to be. Perhaps your dentist can suggest another clinic if he has to go again?

Will Ben allow you to hug him when he gets home? I hope he does … whatever he needs to do to get right with the world, I know you’ll let him do (well … short of violence ;-) ).

My best to you … I wish I could come sit with you and have some coffee or tea.

Thanks Sonja, tea sounds good - maybe one day! Ben is home now, he is really disorientated, but refusing to go to sleep - sheesh! One moment he remembers what has happened and the next he is asking me if he has been yet, so I’m hoping he will forget! Yeah, we had a hug or two - it’s always good when they are back home!

Sorry he had to go through that. That’s no fun at all…I hope now that he’s home he will begin to feel OK again.

Lyn
The poor guy. :(
We had a few very much NOT FUN visits to the Dentisit.
When Jared (my 16 year old now) was a toddler he fell at the mall and smashed his front teeth. Emergency surgery.
I remember all to well the feeling you described in this post of helplessness.
I’ll pray that he can rest and there will be no ill side effects.
Hang in there.

Thanks all of you. He seems more happier now, the drugs have worn off, and he hasn’t mentioned the dentist much. All he keeps going on about is the medicine that stung his throat (pre-med) I’m hoping he’s forgotten the rest. He’s happy playing with his lego now!
