This was a very interesting programme which was on Channel 4 last night. It was presented by Mark Dowd, who was on a personal journey to find out why, despite climate change becoming an increasingly vital issue, the world’s major faiths are saying little about it. Mark talked to leaders from various faiths including Islam,Catholicism, the Church of England, evangelical Christianity in the USA and Hinduism. He asked them whether religion should have a greater role in preventing imminent disaster. The responses were varied. It was good to see that there is an interfatih movement based in the UK looking at getting world leaders to really address climate change. I knew the Bishop of Liverpool, James Jones, is pushing for the C of E to adddress climate change more, so it was nice to see the Bishop of London, Richard Chartres is heavily involved as well. We are called to be care takers of God’s world, as Christians we really need to ask ourselves if we are being good caretakers.

I saw this article on CNN today about how the US has trained up 100 dolphins and seals to detect potential underwater attacks by using their sonar. They may be putting them on patrol soon off the US east coast. I think it shows again how amazing dolphin and other marine mammals are in their abilities, but shouldn’t we just let them be that marine mammals? I feel like this exploits them, although at the same time it’s an ingenious idea by the US defence dept.

I thought it was great when I was reading through CBC’s website this morning and came across this quote by Tony Dungy, the coach of this years superbowl winning team, the Indiannapolis Colts:
“I’m proud to be the first African-American coach to win this,” Dungy said during the trophy ceremony. “But again, more than anything, Lovie Smith and I are not only African-American but also Christian coaches, showing you can do it the Lord’s way. We’re more proud of that.”
Leading up to the superbowl I read a lot of articles that said that this years superbowl was a milestone as Lovie Smith (Chicago Bears coach) and Tony Dungy were both African-Amercian head coaches, and no superbowl until now has seen both teams have African-American coaches. I thought Dungy’s quote was great, as he is recognizing that he is the first African-Amercian head coach to lead his team to win the superbowl, but he was also saying, “what’s even better is that we are both Christian, and following the Lord.”

My friend, Angie, lives in Pennsylvania (US). There was a 50 car pile up there last week, sadly with some fatalities. Below is an article she posted about a man who met what I think was probably an angel following the accident.
I met truck driver Ron Hall the man behind the wheel of this rig during a fifty car pile up on I 90 in erie pa. He opened his
door when his truck came to a stop looked down and new he was dangling 200 feet above the Winter Green Gorge. He thought he was going to die. When he looked back across the bridge a man in a Carhart Sweatshirt was walking the the 8 inch wide guide wall in an attempt to save the trucker before his rig would fall. The man climbed on the wreckage broke out the windshield and pulled him out of the cab and walked him back along the ledge to safety, When
this Driver Ron hall approached me I said were you one of the
drivers in this wreck he said” no-I am the Power ball winner who was behind the wheel of the truck dangling over the gorge. Last night one person won 250 million in a lottery today I tell you I am luckier than that person because some man put his own life in serious jeopardy just to save mine. When we made it to safety I was in tears and I turned to thank him and he walked away into a snow white out and I never even got to get his name.” In the eyes and heart of Ron Hall he met a hero or an angel. What ever the case
in a world of so much bad there is some good if one man is willing to put the life of someone he did not even know above his own!
I have had the good fortune to produce photos and videos For Rock Stars like Pat Monahan-NFL Hall of Famer Dan Marino, All Pro Quarterback Marc Bulger and so many others but when the time comes to sit down and write that book you can bet the unknown hero and the grateful trucker are sure to be featured in a prominent fashion. I hope you all can see a few of my photos and understand why this act of bravery has me in tears more than 24 hours since Ron hall walked up to me on that bridge.
> I wish you all a great day and no matter what life throws at you take time to value what little time we truly get to be alive!
>Thanks RON HALL for sharing your story with me. to the hero that saved him-we may never know your name but I would guess that when your day finally comes there will be a place on the other side of the pearly gates that already has been reserved for you.
