I have found some people here who really seem to share my passion for mission and justice, rather than it being at arms length. This really excites me and a feel like part of my being has awakened after being asleep for a few years. There are a group of older ladies who meet every other week to pray for the persecuted church, one of them sold many of her possessions to go to North Korea, as she flet that God was asking her to do this. There are another group of people who are meeting to be part of the “Stop the Traffik” campaign - which is a campaign to stop slavery worldwide - next year will be 200 years since William Wilberforce and cohorts saw an end to the trans-atlantic slavery from Africa. Many other things are happening, now I am praying as to where I fit into all of this.

We are really feeling at home here now. Before we left Bournemouth I said to Jonathan, I’m sure we’ll find something beautiful in Stevenage - at that time my only impressions of Stevenage were that it seemed quite grey compared to the natural beauty that surrounded us in Dorset. I can truly say now that I have found some stunning beauty here in Hertfordshire - there are some lovely little towns and villages that surround us. I never noticed before how many trees there were in Stevenage. The drive four times a day to and from the childrens school (we’re not being lazy, it’s a 10 minute drive!) is wonderful. We pass so many trees at the moment which have gorgeous rusty orange leaves on them, plus reds and yellows. Autumn is quite a splendour to watch here. There are things and people we miss, but I think we are all as a family feeling very settled here now.

We got here in one piece as did our furniture! It’s taken our internet provider an extra week to manage to get us back online - how do they always manage to muck these things up - it doesn’t matter how much notice you give ….. Lots has happened. We are unpacked and pretty much at home. The children have settled into their new school really well, as well as we hoped for beforehand. They are taking things in their stride. We’ve been plagued with colds - I guess that’s only to be expected when you move up north! - and I have a cough which doesn’t want to disappear at the moment, which is really annoying at night! The shock to the system came on our second week here when the cold set in and we realized we had to de-ice our car. Yes, I know we are only in Hertfordshire, but I guess we’ve been spoilt by the mild winters of Bournemouth! We are enjoying being at St. Peter’s and have met some really lovely people, we are excited about what lies ahead whilst we are here. I start my open university course at the end of the week, so that will keep me busy!
