Manchester Passion

Last night (Good Friday) on BBC3 Manchester Passion was performed live. It was bascially an hours live performance through the streets of Manchester city centre up to Walford Square of the last hours of Jesus’ life. The whole thing was done to modern pop songs, which included Robbie Williams - Angels, Oasis - Don’t look back in Anger, M People - Search for a Hero, James - Sit Down and many more. Whilst this was going on a huge 8 Foot neon white cross was being carried through the streets by people from all walks of life.

It was great to see something so different on TV, and also something that most people in life could relate to, rather than to switch to another channel because it is “religious”, boring or irrelevant. The production team did a great job, as did the performers.

Many Christians around the world today have celebrated palm sunday, the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem. This now leads us into Holy week, a time for reflection, praise and maybe renewed committment for some of us. I love this image, it was taken in Ranchi, India.

Rainbow

On my birthday this year God told me he was going to send me a rainbow for my birthday. Sure enough later that afternoon I saw two rainbows at different times. I felt like God was reminding me of the promises he had said to J and I over the past few months in terms of our future etc. Earlier today I was thinking about those rainbows. About an hour later it started to rain, and I saw a huge rainbow outside the house, it arched all the way over the front of our house into the back garden. Again I felt like God was just reminding me about what he has said, I’ve been feeling a little down over the past day or so, wondering if this is ever going to happen. This evening I feel more positive again. Thank you Lord for your patience and for helping me with my unbelief.

I just had a bag of Lays dill pickle chips, we located them at the Canada Shop in Covent Garden, London. Why don’t they sell these here? They’re gorgeous!

spring

Spring is finally upon us. I love this time of the year, watching the blossoms form on the trees, and the first of the flowers opening. The daffodils and tulips bring such vibrant colors into the spring scenery. There are a few magnolia trees nearby, and they are quickly flowering now.

One thing I love about spring is how quickly everything seems to come to life again. The tree across the road from us had a few buds on it last week, yet now it is all covered in a lovely bubblegum pink blossom.

I feel like my own life is entering spring at the moment, and I am eagerly awaiting to see God moving. During winter nothing seems to grow, but underneath plants are repairing and replenishing themselves for spring. Many animals who hibernate give birth to their young during winter, just before spring dawns. We can only see all of these things once spring is in her full glory. Likewise God is at work behind the scenes in our lives, and we cannot often see it, until we look back and reflect. God is moving, and his full beauty will be revealed.

This link is a great site - it’s a webcam on Hornby Island in BC viewing a bald eagles nest waiting for the eggs to hatch.
